Progress With Unity Podcast #167: Blackpool review, Barnsley preview

Why, dear reader? Why would you ever feel the evil urge to buy one of those terrible third-rate excuses for bedroom pseudo-furniture? The annoying little balls get lodged in your groin area, causing stealth bum numbness that only seems to materialise when you attempt to stand.

And tell me why you would want a tangerine coloured one when you claim to be a Wigan Athletic fan. Do you plan to paint it with that blue gloss you have left over from last year’s shed redecoration? Granted, it is a simply gorgeous hue, darling...

...But oh, you meant ‘Blackpool Beamback’? Sorry, I’ll crawl slowly to my comfort beanbag in the corner again…

Progress With Unity Podcast #166: Southend review, Blackpool preview

Got your snow boots and parka ready? Good, because Blackpool beckons and I don't like the look of that weather forecast. Forget sandcastles, you'd be better served building snowcastles! Fetch the mop bucket and shovel, I fancy making a snow-Caldwell...

Hard to believe it's almost August and Latics' latest campaign to crush the Championship is about to begin. I'm tipping Marc-Antoine Fortune and Grant Holt to be the top scorers for Uwe Rosler this season as chairman Dave Whelan aims for third successive FA Cup Semi Final.

Wait, er... what year is this again? And why is it hailstoning in May? Is this a dream, mother?

On this week's particularly smug edition of the PWU Podcast, your confident panellists explain why it was never once in doubt... and chat about ducks. But that bit was mostly cut out, so the above pic makes little sense...

Progress With Unity Podcast #148: Blackpool review, Barnsley preview

Oh, my... I have to warn you that this week's From The Terrace report is potentially quite controversial. Not because of its content, but the fact it was recorded during the Blackpool game at the DW Stadium illegally!

If you never hear from us again, presume we've been hunted down by Sky Sports for recording (pretty rubbish) 'live' updates from the stands as the game was happening. And no, you can't have my matchday Thermos after I'm 'gone' - I've already pledged it to the dog in my last will and testament.

Also listen out for a brief chat with Will Grigg about goalscoring, international glory and... Star Wars, perhaps. Well, probably not - I just wanted to appear topical for once.

Progress With Unity Podcast #147: Barnsley review, Blackpool preview

I *could* write some silly flavour text here, but then again you *could* be listening to PWU's exclusive interview with Tangerines defender and 'friend of the show' Emmerson Boyce. Now doesn't that sound much more appealing than a cabaret joke that only inebriated fools would find the slightest bit humorous?

By the way, don't forget to register your interest for the PWU Xmas special to be recorded on the 23rd December. We want you lot to toddle along and fire questions at our esteemed guests... which may well be confirmed in this edition of PWU, so get listenin'!

Progress With Unity Podcast #143: Bury and Blackpool reviews, Rochdale preview

Ah, so *that's* where all those pots of Johnstone's Paint have been going!

Bumble bumble bumble Bury, mumble mumble mumble league priorities, grumble grumble grumble bad referees.

Now with that out of the way, we can talk about Wembley again! Ah yes, the DW of the South, the Ben Watson Memorial Stadium, where the sun always shines... despite gushing rain that somehow seeps through the extra thick tarpaulin covering the terraces. Well, we can forgive the cost cutting - after all, Wembley *is* one of two Wigan Athletic stadiums Mr Whelan has to maintain these days!

Progress With Unity Podcast #142: Swindon review, Bury and Blackpool previews

Yep, just hold on a minute while I adjust my seat here. Let's see... right, I *think* that's in the correct position now. OK, I'll just go to the kitchen for a refill of my lukewarm beverage, then make sure I haven't had any calls on my answering machine... for the third time this hour.

What, a booking? Come on, ref, how was I wasting time there?

...Wait, since when did blog description writing have yellow cards, or referees for that matter? Blasted Vigouroux Effect.

Progress With Unity Podcast #118: Blackpool and Norwich reviews, Leeds preview

(Yeah, I'm feeling adventurous this week!)

Ack, typical. All we have to talk about for weeks is yet another Wigan Athletic loss, then when two wins finally come along we have more talking points than we ever could have dreamed!

With an emotional Mr Whelan hanging up his Blankety Blank chequebook and pen, the panellists discuss life before, during and after Big Dave's reign of glory at Wigan Athletic.

Also on the agenda is the issue of fan ownership as Latics United rep Alan Moore drops in to chat about independent supporters groups and... well, the usual off-the-wall nonsense. I knew it, we should never have recorded in a public house, with its access to alcohol!

Progress With Unity Podcast #117: Charlton and Cardiff reviews, Blackpool and Norwich previews

It's actually going upwards, but they cropped the pic incorrectly. (Courtesy NASA)

I don't like this month's pre-occupation with a certain unlucky number. We just had Friday 13th and there are 13 league games to save Wigan's Championship season. I ate thirteen Holland's pies at last night's game and have taken precisely 13 trips to the bathroom since 1300 hours.

On the other hand, thirteen is my father's lucky number, and he's also a Wigan Athletic supporter. On that basis, I reckon we can expect 13 wins between now and 13 May 2015. Hey, this Championship stuff is easy, isn't it?

Progress With Unity Podcast #94: Blackpool review, Birmingham preview

Me, seconds after the Boyeson non-advantage incident.

Those blasted refs, they can't do anything right. Never mind that Warburton chap being the most hated in Wigan, how about every Championship ref? Agh, I'm too easily swayed by those Negative Neddies (and Noras) around me in the East Stand. Quite how can you complain about officiating when you win? Eh?

For a comprehensive(?) answer, click that app's play button - PWU will satisfy your need for weekly Latics comment to fill your ears. And dodgy predictions. And shameless plugs...

Progress With Unity Podcast #93: Charlton and Cardiff review, Blackpool preview

Sometimes you just have to let off some steam, something inside you that's been building up for hours. Ever since you had that curry for tea, in fact. OK, I apologise for being so infantile, but after a hard week watching Latics, nothing beats going to work on a Saturday... wait, did I get those the wrong way round? Probably not.

Hit the play button on that mp3 widget and scream along with us, why doncha?

Progress With Unity Podcast #86: Blackpool and Birmingham reviews, Blackburn and playoff previews

No, wrong type of playoff, fool! (c)2O at Wikipedia

Ladies and gentlemen, we did it. Now let's go out and do it again... three times! Wigan Athletic's near faultless FA Cup record stands us in good stead for this, our first playoff venture in over a decade. We've almost forgotten what it's like... spoiled, we are. Kids today, eh?

I must take this opportunity to apologise to any Blackpool fans offended by certain comments in this edition. Unnecessary violence towards donkeys, or any animal whatsoever, is not tolerated. Stereotyping, on the other hand...

Progress With Unity Podcast #60: Blackpool review, Rubin Kazan and Charlton previews

Following a less-than-satisfactory day by the seaside, the Progress With Unity Podcast team bemoan their inability to rent a donkey on Blackpool beach before powering through a couple of high profile match previews. Or so the final edit would suggest... if you ever attend one of our recording sessions, you'll know it's a lot more chaotic than that.

Ne'er mind, for Europe beckons once more. To the DW- er, Wigan Athletic Stadium!

Progress With Unity Podcast #59: International break review, Blackpool preview

The bright lights of the big ci- erm, town beckon for Wigan Athletic and her followers. The majestic northern seaside resort of Blackpool conjures nostalgic memories of donkeys and rollercoaster rides... and that's just the football. Heh, see what I did there? I hope you did otherwise I'm not doing my job correctly. Just fuhgeddit and listen to this week's 'cast...
