Progress With Unity Podcast #203: Newcastle and Ipswich reviews, Rotherham preview
Which is worse: strikerless matches or matchless strikers? Speaking of which, has anyone seen Mikey Mandron of late? My guess is that he's on holiday in Greenland, Grimsby or quite possibly Gibraltar.
Didn't matter on Tuesday night anyway, as it was the defenders that mucked up first and foremost. Should've put Danny Burn up front where he belongs, says your small time flavour text writer. Also, get Kings Coyle and Joyce back...
(I'll cut off his text here, dear reader - flavour text man is evidently under the influence of social media. -- Ed.)

Progress With Unity Podcast #202: Newcastle and Ipswich previews
My fellow Ticspeople! While you're sucking ice cream from a dripping cone on a deck chair in sunniest Benalmadina, spare a thought for those poor Wigan Athletic footballers suffering extra training sessions in the pouring Rainford* rain.
There ain't no warm weather training while Uncle Barra's bookin' the flights! Mostly because he can't get through to Ceefax Holidays** - all he can access at their number is a premium rate answer machine for 8008335-chat. Don't tell Sharpy, but his entire holiday budget has been spent on said hotline.
*Yeah, I know they actually train in Chorley but it's harder to make witty precipitation-based quips about Euxton.
** Ceefax Holidays never actually existed. Just thought I'd point that out.

Progress With Unity Podcast #189: Ipswich review, Rotherham preview
"A fair tackle." -- Officials
Diego Maradona punching past Peter Shilton in the '86 World Cup Final: legal. Thierry Henry placing the ball at his feet before scoring the goal that dumped Ireland out of the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers: legal.
Branislav Ivanovic gut busting Shaun Maloney just seconds before Chelsea broke to score a winning goal... which was offside: all above board and ratified.
Keith Stroud awarding a penalty against Dan Burn just for existing: you'd better believe that stood up in a footballing court of law (unlike that attacker stumbling into the penalty area).
Conclusion: football is utter nonsense, so for 2017 I shall be switching to competitive kerb-ball. And that, dear reader, is your Christmas present!

"So, Harry, are you bothered if I borrow your car?" (c)Simon Kendrick
BONG!!! BONG!!!
Nope, that wasn't Big Ben chiming to signal the end of the transfer window, but the PWU regulars banging their heads together in frustration once more. But there is light at the end of this lengthy Lancastrian tunnel of death in the form of new signings. The next generation has finally upon us, and Wigan Time shall soon begin!

Big Ben's final chime of the transfer window draws near... (c)Illarterate
The transfer window has less than a week to run, and those inevitable incomings and outgoings are finally starting to happen. Ahah, just when the PWU team needed more stuff to talk about! In fact, this edition was soooo loooong they had to cut it short for space saving reasons.
(Not really, the recorder's batteries ran out!)

Happy 40th... er, 100th birthday, telly techs!
It hasn't just been a momentous week for the mighty Ceefax, who hit the big four-O on Tuesday - PWU is celebrating its own landmark. Nope, we haven't uncovered evidence of an actual listener, though we would appreciate if you could let us know when you find him. Nine participants is a record for this humble Wigan Athletic fan podcast, and... er, we're very proud indeed.
*Lifts trophy aloft, man at back of auditorium claps*
What next, eh? Maybe we might go a podcast without mentioning Grant Holt or biscuits. Yep, that'll be the one I'm on holiday for.
This week starring: Barry, Gareth, Greg, Paul, Mick, Rob, Dan, Terry and Pete.

That can't be McManaman because he's shooting! (Badum tish)
With all this talk of missed penalties, you might think this is a podcast about the England national team. But stuff international matches, because the aftermath is invariably disastrous for Wigan Athletic, regardless of who was or wasn't on last week's plane/bus/trike to Interglobia!
Never mind, for the multimedia televisual extravaganza that is Monday Night Football beckons. I would enjoy the game on telly, but, er, they won't let me take my CRT TV through the DW turnstiles.
Around the table this week: Barry, Gareth, Rob, Paul T, Dan and Mick

Progress With Unity Podcast #80: Ipswich and Yeovil reviews, Watford and QPR previews
Uh oh, is that the Latics emergency ambulance approaching? I wonder who's on the club doctor's ever-growing waiting list this week - perhaps one of the many supporters wounded by wayward shots? Perhaps Uwe hurt his foot kicking the changing room wall after a last-minute goal from Yeovil robbed Latics of a ninth straight victory? And will I ever end a sentence without a question mark? Answer: nope.
