The Latics and Fleetwood have met 9 times since the Cod Army were promoted to the EFL in 2012, they have of course met several times as non-league clubs.
The first of those nine meetings came at the DW Stadium in September 2015, a crowd of 8,300 witnessed a Latics 2:1 victory with a cracking goal from local lad and former Wigan Athletic season ticket holder, Jordan Flores, Michael Jacobs grabbing the other.
We have also met in the EFL Cup, that game came during our administration period and in lockdown, 5th September 2020, it was the first official game of that season.
Two early goals from Joe Garner had the Latics in the driving seat only for the hosts to come back strong with a Ched Evans double and a Josh Morris strike to register our only defeat against Fleetwood.

Not the best at Highbury, Fleetwood’s 23 home games last season in the league brought just 23 points from 5 wins, 8 draws and 10 defeats, Fleetwood had the 4th worst home record in League One in 2021/22.
Up until last Saturday when they beat Plymouth 2:1, Fleetwood hadn’t won a home game since 15th January, drawing 6 and losing 5.

Signed in the summer of 2021 Paddy Lane looks to be another quality find by the Fleetwood scouts, the winger only turned 21 on the 18th February and has a bright future ahead of him.
Costing just £8,000 the former Hyde United youngster is setting the Fylde Coast alight, in his first season in league football, Lane scored five goals and made an impressive eight assists.
