Meet The Ref - Latics v Ipswich Town

Latics are at the DW Stadium again on Saturday for a League 1 encounter with Ipswich Town, the referee in charge of the game will be Rutland based official, Trevor Kettle.

Now in his 19th season as a referee, Kettle’s whistle never seems to run out of steam, controversy follows him around and a quick google search under his name will testify to this.

Previously, Trev has officiated four Latics games, three at the DW Stadium, two came in the 2017/18 League 1 season, his first was a goalless draw against Charlton Athletic, the second was our 1:0 win against Oxford United, ironically enough both Charlton and Oxford were managed by Karl Robinson at the time they played us.

Last campaign Kettle refereed the Latics’ on two occasions, the first was up at the Stadium of Light, on 5th December, when we beat Sunderland 0:1 with a Kyle Joseph goal. The second was our home defeat to Lincoln in February.

Kettle has already been in charge of Ipswich once this season, their Pizza Trophy win away at Gillingham in October.

Away from football, Trevor Kettle served in the Royal Air Force and has worked at NATO, presently he is employed as Sales Director of an engineering company.

Trevor Kettle's last game this campaign was a League 2 affair on Saturday 20 November, Stevenage 1:0 Colchester, six players received yellow cards, two from Stevenage and four Colchester players.
