Meet The Ref - Sheffield Wednesday v Latics

Latics are back in League One action on Tuesday with a trip over the Pennines to visit playoff chasing Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough, the referee for the game will be West Sussex official, Tim Robinson.

38 year old Tim was appointed to the EFL referees list for the start of the 2012/13 season, taking charge of his first game between Southend United and Accrington Stanley.

 

With 324 games under his belt, the former PE Teacher is now part of the Select Group 2 full time refs and spends the majority of his time in the Championship.

Robinson’s previously been in charge of five Latics games, his last one coming this season, our FA Cup 3rd round win over Blackburn at the DW Stadium, James McClean and Max Power picking up yellow cards that day.

 

Robinson refereed Wednesday twice last season, both games at Hillsborough, both games ending goalless, Stoke and Nottingham Forest respectively.

 

Of Tim Robinson’s 24 games this campaign, 20 have been in the Championship, 2 in the EFL Cup, 1 in the FA Cup and just the 1 League One game, Charlton 4:0 Doncaster, back in October.

 

Tim Robinson’s last game was the Championship fixture between Swansea and Blackburn played on Saturday 5th February, Swansea won 1:0, Robinson issued five yellow cards and sent off Swans midfield player Ryan Manning on 53 minutes

.
