The 34 year old was promoted to the National List for the start of the 2022/23 season.

Tom Parsons has three Latics game under his belt, two of those came against Shrewsbury in the same season, 2024/25, two goals to the good with 20 minutes left, in the home fixture we contrived to hand a share of the spoils to the Shrews, a Will Aimson own goal and an 87th minute equaliser saw victory snatched away, Baba Adeeko, Matt Smith and Dale Taylor all ending up in Tom Parson’s book.

The away day was slightly different, Dale Taylor with the only goal of the game giving us victory and all the points, Will Aimson picked up our solitary yellow in that game.

Boxing Day 2023 was the other occasion that Parson’s ref’d us, our 0:1 home defeat to Derby County, four Latics players found their way into the book that day, Liam Morrison, Baba Adeeko again, Sean Clare and Callum Lang.

Meet The Ref - Latics v MK Dons

Latics are back at the Brick on Wednesday, MK Dons provide the opposition in a League One clash, London based official, Paul Howard will take charge of the game.

This is Howard’s 7th season in the Football League following two seasons in the National League.

Previous

Paul Howard has taken charge of five Latics games previously, and we have yet to win a game with him in charge.

The first two games came during the administration season a 1:1 draw away at Wimbledon and a 1:2 home defeat to Oxford, the 3rd came the following season, January 2022, Howard was in charge of our goalless draw away at Cheltenham.

Howard took charge of another goalless draw, this time against Port Vale in April 2024, Liam Shaw and Charlie Kellman picking up bookings. His last Latics game was January last season, a two-nil defeat away at Wycombe, Howard awarding an outrageous penalty to the home side after just one minute of play, that set the tone for the rest of the game.

Paul Howard last took charge of an MK Dons game last season, their 3rd round FA Cup defeat to Oxford United at Stadium MK, Oxford winning 4:5 on penalties following a 1:1 draw.

Meet The Ref - AFC Wimbledon v Latics

Latics travel down to SW17 on Sunday to face AFC Wimbledon at the Cherry Reds Record Stadium on Plough Lane, in a League One fixture. Scheduled to take charge of the game is Northants based referee, Andy Humphries.

29 year old, Humphries, a schoolteacher by trade, has shot through the ranks, making the step up from the National League to the EFL refereeing list in 2025

Previous Games

Andy Humphries has two previous Latics games under his belt, both coming last season and both games were at the Brick. The Wycombe Wanderers Carabao Cup tie back in October 2025, a game we lost 0:1, Will Aimson picking up our only yellow card that evening.

The second game was our League One encounter with highflying Bradford City in March this year, a bumper crowd of nearly 17,000 saw us defeat the Bantams by two goals to nil, Caylan Vickers and Joe Taylor bagging the goals, Weir, Kerr, Rodriges and once again Will Aimson picking up yellows.

Humphries first league game this campaign came in League Two, Crawley suffering a 0:1 home defeat to Crewe, a game that saw 8 yellow and 3 red cards, Crawley picking up two yellows and two straight reds. Apparently, it wasn’t a dirty game.

Plough Lane entertained Andy Humphries back on the 31st January this year, he was in charge of the Wombles home defeat to Bolton by a solitary goal.

Meet The Ref - Latics v Orient

Latics face Orient at the Brick on Saturday, in our first League One home fixture of this season, scheduled to take charge of the game is Gloucester based referee, Ross Martin.

Ross Martin, made the step up from the National League to the National List last season.

Previous Games

In his debut season, Martin only had four games at League One level, of these four, two involved the Latics.

The first of which featured Port Vale at the Brick back in October, Martin red carded Dara Costelloe on the stroke of half-time for an attempted overhead kick which was deemed as a high foot, we went on to win the game with a 2nd half Asamoah goal.

The second game was our away 1:1 draw against Barnsley in March, Joe Taylor with a great goal finishing off an assist by Sam Tickle, the red card was out again though, Callum Wright picking up a 2nd yellow and heading for an early bath.
