Latics are back at the DW Stadium on Tuesday when relegation threatened Fleetwood are in town, the referee for the game will be Durham based official, Martin Coy.
Coy joined the National List of referees in August 2017. He isn’t what you’d call a ‘card happy’ ref, his career average is around 2.5 yellows per game, this season though he is currently a little up on that average.
Previous Latics Games
This will be Coy’s sixth Latics game, he was in charge of our EFL Cup 1st round tie away at Championship club Hull City back in August, we went through on penalties following a 1:1 draw on the night.
The 48 year old former PE and Maths Teacher was also in charge of the ‘best forgotten’ FA Cup tie against Chorley last season, so we’ll forget about that one.
Coy has previously been in charge of Fleetwood games on seven occasions, the last of which came last season, a goalless draw at the Highbury Stadium with Northampton.
This season Martin Coy has been in charge of 7 League One games, 8 League Two games and two games in each of the cup comps, FA Cup, EFL Cup and EFL Trophy. Surprisingly Coy hasn’t had a game since he took charge of Accrington’s 2:0 win over Oxford on the 8th February.
