Latics are back at the DW Stadium on Saturday when playoff hopefuls Sunderland are in town, the referee for the game will be London based official, Sam Purkiss.

A graduate of Cambridge University the 33 year old is working as a Senior Associate at law firm Harbottle & Lewis in London, where he specialises in regulatory matters relating to sport, sponsorship, the exploitation of intellectual property and publishing. Hmm better be careful what I write here.
Sam is an ex pupil of Queen Elizabeth’s High School in Gainsborough and originally hails from the Lincolnshire town.
This is Sam Purkiss’ third season as a Football League ref, he has refereed one Latics game previously, last season’s away defeat to Lincoln City, booking Jamie Jones.
Purkiss has two Sunderland games under his belt, their 0:2 win away at Gillingham last season and the Mackems 1:0 home win over Bolton earlier this campaign.
Of his 24 games so far this season, 10 have come in League One, 9 in League Two, 2 in the EFL Trophy and 1 each in the FA and the EFL Cups. Sam Purkiss’ last two games have both come as the 4th Official at Championship matches.

A million thank yous to all our listeners and contributors from down the years as we have passed the million downloads milestone during this last week, very much humbled by the support, thank you one and all.
What a result at Wycombe on Tuesday, that 2nd half performance was as good as it gets, three great goals and the woodwork hit twice, we are a machine that is built for promotion, it's an absolute pleasure watching Wigan Athletic games.
Callum Lang is a special player and rightly grabbed the headlines with his two goals and exciting play, but we've just got to mention Tom Naylor, wow, what a player, Mr Consistency, game in and out he is averaging over 7.5 for his performances, what a signing he was back in the summer. Another top game at Adams Park, worked his socks off all over the pitch and grabbed his first league goal for the Latics to draw us level, breathtaking performance.
The big games just keep rolling on, Saturday we entertain Sunderland at the DW Stadium, a potential full house for what promises to be a humdinger of a match.
Mackem fan, Graham Falk joins us to give an insight into the goings on at the Stadium of Light and his prediction that the Latics will win the game is kidding none of us. Sunderland have recruited a top manager in Alex Neil and will make it very difficult for us, but the lads are confident that we can rack up another three points as we edge ever closer to our season goal of promotion.
Up the tics!
