Meet The Ref - Wigan Athletic v Blackburn Rovers

Name: Andy Woolmer
Born: April 1966
Place of Birth: Northampton

53 year old Woolmer has been around the Football League for a long time and he spent 10 years between 1994 and 2004 running the line, the last three of which were in the Premier League, he then dropped down to the Football League to take up refereeing and was officiating as a National List Referee for the over 12 seasons before being promoted to the Select Group 2 in the summer of 2018.

Latics’ related facts:
Andy Woolmer was in charge of an incredible game back in January 2016, Chris McCann’s 66th minute goal put the Latics three nil up against Sheffield United and absolutely coasting, but a dramatic fight back by the Blades saw Matt Done grab an 89th minute equaliser to make it 3-3 in a rip roaring match.
