The 29 year old Cumbrian is in his fifth season on the National List and as refereed the Latics on three previous occasions, our 1:0 home win over Northampton Town in September 2017, booking both Michael Jacobs and, not surprisingly, Sam Morsy.
Last season he was in charge of our demolition of MK Dons at the DW, a really entertaining game in which we ran out 3:0 winners, Curtis Tilt ending up with a yellow card.
Early this campaign, Backhouse was at the DW Stadium for our 1:1 draw with Wycombe.
Anthony Backhouse has refereed Accrington ten times previously, he was the man in the middle when they demolished Bolton 7:1, his latest Accy game came earlier this season away at Sunderland and ended in a 2:1 defeat.
Last Game Backhouse was in charge of the Mansfield 1:0 Northampton League Two game on Saturday 2nd April, issuing 4 yellows and 1 red card.

Hopefully that's them done with for a few years, toxic fan base, bonehead manager and to be honest, quite a poor side. How we didn't press home and have the game done and dusted by half-time is beyond me, but this is football and these things happen, we move on to Tuesday.
Unfortunately it looks like we could be without two of our big performers with Jimmy McClean and Curtis Tilt having to leave the pitch with what appeared bad injuries, McClean left the stadium on crutches after twisting his knee in a challenge for the ball, whilst Tilty looks like he suffered either a hamstring or a thigh strain.
Of the two Tilt will be the easier to replace with options of going to a four and bringing in Bennett or Pearce, with Kell Watts coming in, or staying with a three, again Watts coming in.
For McClean we do have good replacements but as we know he can win games on his own and he will be a big miss to the side.
Accrington are in town on Tuesday and are a bit of an unpredictable side, typical mid-table and can be good or bad.
Speaking with Stanley supporter, Peter Leatham, he identified Ross Sykes as their big player, looking at his stats across the season I can see why he is a fans favourite, 98 interceptions, a high percentage of tackles won, 16 yellows and 2 reds indicate he isn't afraid to put his foot in either, a real ball winner, unfortunately for Accy, Sykes was red carded on Saturday and misses the game at the DW Stadium.
Any sort of positive result will see us go top of the table, I'm going for the win.
Up The Tics!
