Latics travel to Burton Albion on Tuesday for a League One fixture.
Since Burton gained promotion to the Football League our two clubs have only met on eight occasions, results are more or less even, three wins for the Latics and two wins for Burton, with three draws.
Though we did meet a few times in our non-league days, the last of those meetings coming in the FA Trophy back in 1972 and saw Latics record a 5:0 victory.
Memorable Game - Burton Albion 3:4 Latics
A proper bottom of the table scrap, 29th December 2020, what a game that was.
Behind three times only for Kyle Joseph to claw us back level on each occasion as the Latics youngster bagged his first senior hat-trick, Will Keane popped up in the 83rd minute to grab the decisive goal in a 3-4 classic.

What a wonderful day out at Lincoln, great occasion and a fantastic three points, the lads played superbly well, Langy at his best and a top atmosphere in the stadium.
With the way the results went on Saturday the Latics are on the verge of securing promotion and it would take an almighty crash for us to miss out, Burton away on Tuesday and a win there will leave us with one foot in the Championship.
Tom Naylor is returning to one of his former clubs and he has a message for the Burton fans and hopefully we see him celebrating with his hands cupped behind his ears, if you know, you know.
Will Keane is now looking good to finish the season with a shout at claiming the League One Golden Boot, just one off top spot with six games to go. That would be a great achievement for Latics number 10 and a testament to the coaching staff at the club.
Up The Tics!
