Callum Lang Portrait Up For Grabs In Support Of MNDA

Through high profile sports personalities suffering from and raising awareness of Motor Neurone Disease over the past couple of years the general public have developed a greater understanding of the impact that this illness has on individual sufferers and their immediate circle of family and friends.

Former Latics player John Pender has recently been diagnosed, Blackburn Rovers' former striker Lenny Johnrose is also a sufferer and only last week we lost former Charnock Richard, Longridge FC and Nothwich Vics player George Melling at a very young age.

Our family have seen this effect first hand, my uncle Tommy, my wife’s grandfather James and recently her sister Angela have all sadly passed with MND.

In May 2012 we lost our Angela to Motor Neurone Disease at the age of 48, she was diagnosed just six months earlier.

Ang was such a character, loved by her family and friends, extremely popular at work (Tote Wigan) and lived a full and fun filled life.

That life was cut dramatically short and had a profound effect on all those that knew her.

The ten years without her have been so hard, but we find solace in the memories of the times we had together.

MND is a devastating condition and its impact on the lives of those who suffer the disease and their family and friends is immeasurable, research is continuing into new treatments and hopefully the long term aim of a cure can be achieved.

In memory of Ang and to mark the 10th anniversary of her passing we are hoping to raise £500 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, through a raffle, the prize of which is a stunning A4 pencil drawing of Wigan Athletic star, Callum Lang.

The drawing is by local artist Hannah Jayne Walsh and is signed by both Hannah and Langy, framed and will be presented to the winner of the raffle at the Reception of the DW Stadium.

To enter the raffle please donate £5 to the dedicated JustGiving page by clicking here and leave your name in the comments
, the draw will take place by an independent person on the 24th May 2022 and the winner announced via twitter, Facebook, our blog and also on the JustGiving page.

You can enter as many times as you like, for example donating £10 will be classed as two entries, £15 three entries and so on.

Thank You - Together we can make a difference.

Hannah has a facebook page with samples of her work on and also she is on twitter, I cannot thank both Hannah and Callum Lang enough for supporting our effort to raise funds into research and also to create more awareness.
