Meet The Ref - Gillingham v Latics

Latics are back in action on Wednesday when they travel down to Kent to face playoff chasing Gillingham, the man charged with ensuring the laws of the game are adhered to will be Staffordshire official, Chris Sarginson.

Chris Sarginson

Sarginson has 12 years experience in the EFL, he only has a handful of games at Championship level during that time, the vast majority coming in League’s One and Two. Subsequently our paths haven’t crossed often, just three times in fact, this will be his first Latics game since April 2918.

He’s been in charge of just one game at the Priestfield this campaign, the Gills 3:2 victory over Woking in the 1st round of the FA Cup.

Of Chris Sarginson’s 28 games this season 9 have been in League One, 13 in League Two, 4 in the EFL Trophy and one each in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup.

His last game was the Crawley 1:3 Port Vale League Two game on Saturday 27th March.

Chris Sarginson has refereed the Latics on three occasions previously:
