Latics are back in action on Saturday as we travel the short distance to Accrington to face out of sorts Stanley, the man in the middle for this game will be Derbyshire based official, James Oldham.
The young whistle blower is in his second season officiating in the Football League following promotion from the National League in time for the 2019/20 season, he kicked off his career in the big time with the Carlisle v Crawley League 2 opener, issuing a red and 4 yellows. Way to go Jimmy.
Oldham has been officially in charge of two Latics games previously, our 1-1 draw away at Fleetwood, Ollie Crankshaw scored a late equaliser, and the 0:5 home drubbing to Hull City, the least said about that the better.
James Oldham has one Accy game under his belt, last seasons 2:1 win against AFC Wimbledon at the Crown Ground.
Of James Oldham’s 27 games this season 13 have been in League1, he’s done 8 League 2 games, 3 in the EFL Trophy, 2 FA Cup and just the one in the EFL Cup.
His last game was the Peterborough 1:0 win over Portsmouth at London Road last Saturday (16 March).
