We go again, a phrase we’ve used many weeks on the Podcast, in forums and on social media. It’s all you can do though given the situation that we find ourselves in. MK Dons the visitors on Saturday and they don’t have anything to fear…right? *Gala - Freed from Desire plays in background*

Previous

Given the circumstances that MK Dons came to be, MK Dons, with the demise of Wimbledon FC and coinciding with our rise through up to the Premier League it is clear to see why we have only played them 5 times.

We boast a pretty decent record in those five fixtures with 3 wins, 1 draw and just the one defeat which came in our most recent game against them in October when we lost 2-0 at Stadium MK.

A resistant first half performance was undone straight after half time, Tom James fouled Matthew Sorinola to concede a penalty. It’s important to remember that Jamie Jones was pivotal in keeping the scores level with some great saves.

Four players who played that day are no longer with the club. Tom James, Matty Palmer, Oliver Crankshaw and Joe Garner all left as has been documented. How sorely are they missed?

Ones to Watch

Fraser - Playing below his level and very creative and a big part of the success of MK Dons. A pivotal player.

Jerome - Cameron Jerome is one of those players who feels like he has been around for decades. He definitely knows where the net is. 12 goals in 29 games with a goal conversion percentage of 26% is, well, pretty decent.

Grigg - Now this isn’t just because he’s an ex Latic and the fact that we beat Man City with a Will Grigg goal. Since his January move Grigg has scored 3, assisted 3 in. 6 games with a goal conversion percentage of 50%. 67% shot accuracy too. He will score goals…

Form - Won 2, Drawn 1, Lost 2

Gillingham 3-2 MK Dons

MK Dons 1-1 Oxford

Shrewsbury 4-2 MK Dons

MK Dons 4-3 Northampton

Hull 0-1 MK Dons

It’s safe to say that there form is very, very inconstant.

Former Latics - MK Dons are home to a few ex-Latics. Lee Nicholls, Josh McEachran and a certain Will Grigg. Nicholls has played over 130 games for MK since his move in 2016, cementing a first team place, McEachran has struggled in recent years to find and hold down a first team slot. Since leaving Brentford in 2019 he’s only featured around 10 times for Birmingham and MK Dons.

Finally, William Donald Grigg. Over 130 games for the Latics and over 50 goals in all competitions. A torrid spell at Sunderland seems to be a thing of the past as Grigg is now finding blistering form at Stadium MK.

Missing Personnel

Daniel Harvie is facing a race against fitness while David Kasumu and Ben Gladwin will both miss out.

Opposition fan

Speaking on the PWU Podcast, Aiden from the MK Dons Supporters Association, seems pleased with how MK Dons are doing. Fraser, Jerome and Grigg are players to watch and he thinks Fraser and Jerome could cut it in the Championship. Aiden thinks Bristol Rovers, Rochdale, Northampton and AFC Wimbledon will make the drop this season.

Prediction - PWU 1-1. Aiden 2-3
