Latics are back at the DW Stadium on Tuesday for a League 1 fixture against Lincoln City, the referee for the game will be Durham official, Seb Stockbridge.
Seb Stockbridge |
The 37 year old has been a National List referee since the 2013/14 season when he kicked off his career in the big time with a League 2 encounter between Fleetwood and Dagenham & Redbridge, that first season saw Stockbridge issue 7 red cards in just 24 games.
Stockbridge got his first taste of Championship football in his second season in the league when he took charge of our away day at Huddersfield Town, a game which ended goalless. He has only been in charge of three Championship games all of which came in that 2014/15 season.
An interesting fact, Seb spent time refereeing abroad in the Iceland domestic League back in 2013.
This his will be Stockbridge’s 7th Latics game, he last ref’d us last season, the very first game, away at Fleetwood in the EFL Cup. He has refereed Lincoln on eight previous occasions, including two in the National League, his last Imps game was their goalless draw away at Hull in February last season.
So far this season, Seb Stockbridge has taken
charge of 13 games, four in League 1, five in League 2 and two each in the EFL
Cup and EFL Trophy. His last game was Saturday, 23rd October, the League 2 clash at Vale Park, Port Vale 3:0 Colchester, issuing 3 yellows, two of which went to the visitors.
