Meet The Ref - Crewe v Latics

Latics take a break from League 1 football on Tuesday evening with an outing in the EFL Trophy away at Gresty Road where we will face Crewe Alexandra, the referee for the game is Birmingham based official, Tom Reeves.

Tom Reeves

Reeves is in his debut season as a League ref, having spent the past three seasons in the National League where, surprisingly, he only clocked up 46 games over those three seasons.

This will be his first Latics game, but he is familiar with Crewe and Gresty Road having taken charge of The Railwaymen’s 2-2 draw with Cambridge on Saturday, obviously Tom found himself some nice lodgings and decided to stay over.

A graduate of Warwick University, Tom spent five years as a PE Teacher before joining Coventry City’s Community team in 2018, as the PL Sport Manager working alongside former Sky Blues centre back and Head of Community, David Busst.

Tom Reeves’ games so far this campaign have been spread around League One (2), League Two (5) and the EFL Trophy (1)
