Latics travel to The Valley on Saturday to face Charlton Athletic in what promises to be an entertaining game, the man entrusted to keep the game flowing will be Surrey official, Craig Hicks.
Craig Hicks
Hicks has progressed from his lowly beginnings in the Epsom & Ewel Youth League, through to taking charge of the Surrey Senior Cup Final in 2016 and eventually into the Football League for the 2017/18 season, his first game being Port Vale 2:3 Wycombe Wanderers on the 12 August 2017.
This will be the first Wigan Athletic game that Craig Hicks has been involved with, he has previously refereed Charlton on five occasions, three of which came last season, beating Oxford 2:0 at the Valley and both their Ipswich encounters, 0-1 away win and a goalless home draw.
In the home win against Oxford, Hicks dismissed Charlton defender Ryan Innis, every little helps.
Hicks last game was on Tuesday, 17 August, Walsall 1:1 Scunthorpe, awarding 25 free kicks (12:13) and issuing 3 yellow cards (1:2)
