Meet The Ref - QPR v Latics

Latics are off on their travels once again on Saturday, a trip to London to face table topping Queens Park Rangers, the referee for the game will be Northampton official, Dean Whitestone.

Dean Whitestone

Whitestone has been around for quite a while now, started refereeing in the EFL back in 2005 and actually took charge of his first game at Championship level just two years later when he was in charge of the QPR v Colchester United match on the 22nd December 2007.

 Previous Games

The serving Met Police Officer is a veteran of 580 games, 167 of those coming at Championship level. During his career, Whitestone has issued 1610 yellow cards, 85 reds and awarded 162 penalties.

Dean Whitestone has taken charge of 5 Latics games previously, of which we have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 1. Whitestone took charge of 3 QPR games last season, all came at Loftus Road, Coventry 2:0, Rotherham (FA Cup) 1:1 and Middlesbrough 2:2.

So far this season, Whitestone has been in charge of 9 games, 5 of those in the Championship, his last game was the Birmingham City 1:1 Burnley Championship fixture on Wednesday, 19th October.
