Latics are back at the DW Stadium on Wednesday, Middlesbrough will be in town for a Championship clash, they’re coming thick and fast at the moment, the referee for the game will be Freckleton official, Leigh Doughty
Leigh Doughty |
A relatively in experienced but highly thought of referee, Doughty went from refereeing in the National League back in May 2019 to the Select Group 2 of full time refs by the start 2020-21 season.
Previous Games
The 32 year old former PE Teacher has 96 games under his belt with 46 of those coming at Championship level. This will be his second visit to the DW Stadium and also his second Latics game. His previous one was our EFL Cup defeat to Sunderland last season.
Leigh Doughty has taken charge of 3 Middlesbrough games previously, they all came last season, all away from the Riverside Stadium, 2 defeats, Coventry and Bristol City and one win, this coming against Peterborough in April, Boro winning 0:4.
So far this season, Doughty has been in charge of 10 games, 8 of those in the Championship, his last game was the Hull City 0:2 Birmingham City on Sunday, there was a problem with the height of one of the goals, now where have we heard that before, this set Doughty off in a bad mood as he issued 7 yellow cards and awarded 2 penalties to the visitors!
We better make sure those goals are the correct size on Wednesday.
