We’re back at the DW Stadium on Tuesday, Blackburn Rovers are the opposition in a rearranged Championship fixture, the referee for the game will be Bedford official, Josh Smith.

The 28 year old is in third year in the Football League and is in his second with the Select Group 2 officials, another ref rising quickly through the ranks.

Smith has two Latics’ games under his belt, both coming at the DW Stadium, Halloween 2020 a defeat to Northampton by 2:3, Pearce, Crankshaw and Garner all ending up in the book, last season Smith took charge of our 2:0 win over Cheltenham, Lang, Keane and Cousins getting yellows.
Since joining the National List, Josh Smith has been in charge of 88
games, issuing 299 yellow and 16 red cards whilst awarding 14 penalties.
Smith has already been in charge of two Blackburn games this season, their 2:1 home win over West Brom in August and the 2:0 defeat away at Luton in September.
Josh Smith has taken charge of 9 games so far this season, 8 of which have come at Championship level.
