Anthony Scully To Wigan Athletic?

Prophetic? We will see, he is a very good player, a snippet from our preview v Lincoln back in March:

Player To Watch – Anthony Scully

Anthony Scully

The 22 year old striker signed from West Ham in February 2020 and is the current top scorer at Lincoln with 9 goals.

Scully didn’t manage to break into the first team at West Ham but he has made an impact at Sincil Bank, he scored Lincoln’s equalising goal last season at the DW Stadium after Callum Lang’s thunderbolt had put us one up. He finished last season with 17 goals in all competitions.

So far this season, Anthony Scully has made 30 League One appearances, he’s scored 9 goals from 67 attempts and made 7 assists, he’s committed 11 fouls and drawn 28, picking up just the one yellow card along the way. Scully has also completed 67 crosses, made 12 interceptions and won 14 tackles, suggesting he’s a bit of a live wire.

A Republic of Ireland U21 international, Scully has been attracting a lot of interest this season from clubs up the food chain and Michael Appleton will be hoping he can fend off that interest in his young striker ahead of the new season.

A footnote – Anthony Scully’s dad, Tony Scully played against the Latics for Cambridge United in our 4:1 victory at the then JJB Stadium back in March 2002.
