Meet The Ref - Cheltenham Town v Latics

Cheltenham Town away on Saturday for the Latics as we look to continue our incredible form on the road this season, in charge of the game will be London based official, Paul Howard.

Paul Howard

This is Howard’s 2nd season in the Football League following two seasons in the National League, he is one of the EFL ‘new wave’ of young refs being fast tracked through the leagues.

Pau Howard has taken charge of two Latics games previously, both last season, our home defeat to Oxford in November 2020 and the away draw at AFC Wimbledon in the middle of March.

Howard has refereed Cheltenham three times, once this season, their 1-0 League One home win over Oxford in September and two League Two games last season, all coming at Whaddon Road.

A young Latics side progressed through to the last four of the EFL Trophy with a win against an excellent Arsenal team at the DW Stadium, local lad Divin Baningime grabbing a late goal to see us progress. Our three centre backs, James Carragher, Charlie Hughes and Adam Long were solid against a very good forward line and proved to be the rock that our win was built upon.

Looking forward to Saturday's game away at Cheltenham we have a preview from Robins director and friend of the Latics, Murry Toms, who gives his frank views on his own players, promotion and relegation candidates and a prediction on Saturday's game, well worth a listen.
