Latics face Rochdale on Tuesday at the DW Stadium in a Lancashire derby, the man blowing the whistle, and possibly blowing hard too, is 58 (Fifty-Eight) year old Preston based referee, Graham Salisbury.
Graham Salisbury |
To say Salisbury is an experienced ref would be something of an understatement with over 20 seasons under his belt, but in all his time officiating he has only taken charge of one Latics game previously, our 2:2 draw with Bury at Gigg Lane back in October 2015, which was memorable for Craig Morgan’s last minute equaliser in front of the traveling supporters.
Graham Salisbury has been in charge of 11 games so far this campaign, three in League 1, four in League 2, two in the Football League Trophy and one each in the FA and EFL cups.
His last
game was the MK Dons v Burton Albion League 1 match on Saturday 12 December which ended 1:1, Salisbury awarded 19 free kicks during the game (8:11), producing two yellow cards, both for Burton players.
