Burnley are in town on Saturday for a Championship clash with the Latics at the DW Stadium, in charge of the game will be Sheffield referee, James Bell.
James Bell |
Jimmy is in his third season as a referee in the Football League, having graduated from the National League where he had just the one campaign, he has now been promoted to the Select Group 2 following two seasons on the National List.
Previously he worked as an assistant (lino) and ran the line at Championship level.
Previous Games
Bell has three Latics’ games under his belt, our goalless draw at home against Bristol Rovers in the 2020/21 season, and last campaign he was in charge of our League One away win at Oxford and the Pizza Trophy semi-final draw against Sutton United at the DW, which our visitors eventually won through to the final via a penalty shoot out.
In his three seasons since joining the
National List, James Bell has been in charge of 72 games, issuing 216 yellow
and 13 red cards whilst awarding 21 penalties.
Just two games for James Bell so far this season, the EFL cup tie between Blackburn and Hartlepool at Ewood Park and last Saturday’s Championship game at the Hawthorns where West Brom demolished Hull 5:2.
