The games are coming thick and fast at the moment, next up is AFC Wimbledon at the DW Stadium, an important game with both clubs desperate for the points for very different reasons, the referee for the game will be West Midlands based official, Oliver Langford.
Oliver Langford |
Langford joined the National List of referees in the 2008/09 season. His first game, coming on the 16th August, it was a League Two affair at Spotland, Rochdale running out 2:1 winners over Barnet.
Since that first game, Langford has clocked up an impressive 488 games, issuing 1,329 yellow and 72 red cards. He certainly hasn’t mellowed has he’s got older, in his first season he took charge of 26 games issuing 58 cautions, so far this campaign he has 26 games under his belt with 102 yellows dished out.
Previous Latics Games
This will be Langford’s 13th Latics game, his last one came in February 2020 a 2:2 draw against Middlesbrough at the DW Stadium, a horror show from Langford booking 6 Latics players, 4 Boro and sending off Chey Dunkley on 62 minutes.
Part of the Select Group 2, Langford now mainly officiates in the Championship, his 26 games so far this campaign, 17 have come in the Championship, 4 in League One and 3 in League Two and 2 in the EFL Cup.

It was great to get back to winning ways on Tuesday but it came at a cost, losing three players, McClean, Darikwa and Shinnie, to suspension will have a toll on the squad.
Still, it was a good display of patient football with some lovely moves, as well as the goals we hit the woodwork twice and never looked in any danger of not winning the game.
Great news this week with Charlie Wyke releasing a statement regarding where he is up to on his road to recovery, really pleasing to hear that he will be available to start preseason training with the rest of the squad in the summer.
AFC Wimbledon at the DW Stadium on Saturday and once again I had the privilege of speaking to Dons fan and Plough Lane Stadium official tour guide, Ray Armfield to get his low down on what to expect and which players to look out for on Saturday.
Another three points? We hope so.
Up the tics!
