The Latics are back in League One action on Saturday, a trip to the Keepmoat Stadium to face playoff chasing Doncaster Rovers. Swindon born official, Alan Young will be in charge of the game.
Alan Young |
Alan Young was appointed to the National List as recently as the 2018/19 season, his first game was Crewe Alex 6:0 Morecambe and he has gone on to ref 91 games in the following three seasons.
You could say Young is a little card happy, in those 91 games he has issued 405 yellow cards, an average of nearly 5 per game and not had a single no card game, in fact he has only had one game where he has issued just one card. His average so far this season is 4.2 per game.
This game will be Alan Young’s first involvement in a Latics fixture, he has previously ref’d Donny on four occasions, the last being earlier this campaign when he took charge of their 2:1 away defeat at Plymouth in October, true to form those four fixtures produced 20 yellow cards!
Away from refereeing Alan Young is still involved in football, his full time job is CEO/Director of Bedfordshire FA, he’s been in the position for the past ten years.
Of Alan Young’s 27 games so far this season, 9 have been in League One, 11 in League Two, 4 the EFL Trophy, 2 in the FA Cup and 1 in the EFL Cup.
