Latics are back on the road following the international break with a trip down to Devon on Saturday for a League One fixture, mid-table Exeter City are the opposition and the referee for the game will be Cheshire official, Ben Atkinson.
Ben Atkinson |
Atkinson is in his first season as a National List ref, having been promoted during the summer, following a season refereeing between the National League (7 games), the National Leagues North and South (10 games) and Premier League 2 (5 games).
Previous Games
This will be the first time Ben Atkinson will have been involved in a game featuring either the Latics or Exeter City, he currently has 1 League One game under his belt, Lincoln City v Cheltenham, 7 in League 2 and 1 EFL Trophy game.
When not blowing his whistle, Ben Atkinson can be found in his Dental Surgery, yes Ben is a dentist by trade.
According to one recent assessor’s report “Ben Atkinson is well drilled, good at rooting out potential trouble and filling in his note book, but does appear to like an extraction with a red card every other game and I was a little perplexed when he requested kick off to be moved to 2:30 (tooth hurty)”
