The first meeting came on the 25^th September 1984, a 2^nd round League Cup tie, the first leg coming at Springfield Park, a goalless draw against top flight opposition for 3^rd tier Latics was a good result, unfortunately we went down 3:1 in the second leg at the Hawthorns 2 weeks later, Colin Methven getting the consolation goal.

Spent time at Swindon, Rotherham and Brentford before moving to Reading where he had 6 excellent seasons, scoring 31 goals in 187 appearances for the Royals, moved to West Brom on a free transfer during the summer and is enjoying his time at the Hawthorns.
