Any Previous? Latics v QPR

Latics have met Queens Park Rangers on 20 occasions previously. It’s fair to say we don’t have the best of records against the Hoops.

 

Our first meeting came in the old League Division 2, the third tier, in the 2001/02 season, a 1:2 defeat at the then named JJB Stadium on 22^nd September, Tony Dinning giving the Latics a 42^nd minute lead only for QPR to equalise on the stroke of half time with an Andy Thomson goal.  

A Ged Brannan own goal in the 90^th minute saw all the points go to QPR.

The return fixture at Loftus Road in February 2002 once again saw the Latics squander a lead and be thwarted in the final minute of the game, Jason De Vos putting us in front with 20 minutes to go only for Kevin Gallen to fire home the equaliser with virtually the last kick of the game.

Our last two games played at the DW Stadium, both in the Championship, have ended in victory for the Latics, a 1:0 win in July 2020 and a 2:1 win in February 2019.
