Meet The Ref - Cambridge v Latics

Latics visit the Abbey Stadium to play Cambridge United on Tuesday evening in a League 1 fixture, the man in charge of the game is Nottinghamshire referee, Declan Bourne.

Declan Bourne

Bourne is in his second season as a National List referee, he was in charge of two Latics’ games last campaign, both at the DW Stadium, our goalless draw against Fleetwood Town in January, no cards or penalty awards in that one, but the 2:0 win over Crewe Alex in April was a little more incident packed, Alex defender Omar Beckles received a red card for chopping down Callum Lang in the box as he was about to strike for goal, Lee Evans converted the resultant penalty.

Cambridge have had Declan Bourne in charge of just one of their games previously, that came last season, a 2:1 home win over Salford City, awarding a penalty to Cambridge in the 50th minute of the game.

Declan Bourne was the 4th Official at the Bristol Rovers v Tranmere Rovers game on Saturday.
