Any Previous? Cambridge v Latics

The two clubs have met 14 times down the years, all league games in the third tier of English Football.

Latics’ having the better of those fourteen meetings with five wins and just two defeats, but with 50% of the games ending in a draw and only once being settled by more than the odd goal, it appears that the matches are always close run affairs.

The first meeting came back on the 19th October 1984, down at the Abbey Stadium, a crowd of 2,672 saw the first of what was to become a regular score line when the two sides met, 1:1, of the six draws that have followed this result, another four have ended 1:1.

The last meeting between the two sides was almost 20 years ago, 5th March 2002, an Andy Liddell hat-trick and a goal from Lee McCulloch saw the Latics run out 4:1 winners at the then named JJB Stadium. 3,535 the attendance that day.

Latics Team - Filan; Green, De Vos, De Zeeuw, Jackson, McMillan; Dinning, Mitchell, Teale, McColluch; Liddell

There has never been a goalless draw between the two clubs and there is only one game when a side was nilled, that was us unfortunately in April 1991, going down 0:1 at Springfield Park.
