Latics are back in action on Saturday when they face Oxford United at the DW Stadium, in charge of the game will be London based referee, Paul Howard.

Paul Howard |
This is Howard’s first season in the Football League, he spent the past two in the National League, over that two year period he was in charge of just 34 games, he appears to be one of the EFL ‘new wave’ of young ref’s being fast tracked through the leagues.
Of his ten games so far this campaign only one has been in League 1, the Peterborough and Burton 2:2 draw at London Road back on the 27th October.
This will be the first time Paul Howard has taken charge of either a Wigan Athletic or Oxford United game, but he does have a tenuous link to Oxford having been in charge of Oxford City’s FA cup victory over Northampton Town a couple of weeks back.
