Latics are heading off down the M6 on Saturday with a trip to Burslem to face Port Vale in a League One fixture, the man in charge of the game will be Sussex official, Jacob Miles.

This is the Brighton lad’s first season on the National List, though he has been refereeing since he was a 13 year old, he graduated through the local leagues to make the National League during the 2020/21 season.
Jacob miles also gained good experience around the world of football officialdom, working as the Sussex FA’s Referee Administrator and also their Referee Fitness coach.
Previous Games
This will be the first time Jacob Miles has refereed a Latics game, though he has officiated us as sorts previously, he was the 4th Official at our away defeat, on penalties, in the EFL Cup at Wrexham in August.
He has been in charge of one Port Vale game previously, the Valiants 1:1 draw with Newcastle U21s in the Bristol St Motors Trophy back in October.
During his debut campaign in the EFL, Miles has had just the 1 League One game so far, 7 coming in League Two and 7 spread between the FA Cup and the EFL Trophy
