Latics travel to Brunton Park on Tuesday for a League One fixture against Carlisle United, the referee for the game will be Sunderland based official, Marc Edwards.
Marc Edwards |
The 34 year old is in his 5th season as a National List official.
In his career in the EFL, Marc Edwards has taken charge of 117 games, issued 445 yellow and 9 red cards, pointing to the penalty spot on 24 occasions.
Having served his
apprenticeship in the National League, his first two seasons in the ‘Big Time’
saw him issue just two red cards in 58 games, one in each season, only one of
those was a straight red. He does like awarding a penalty though.
Previous Games
Edwards has ref’d the Latics 3 times previously, twice during our administration season, our 4:3 home win over Accrington Stanley back in December 2020 and the 0:1 away win at Sixfields against Northampton Town on the 9th February 2021.
The third time was our goalless draw with Wolves Under 21s in the Papa Johns Trophy at the start of the 2021/22 campaign.
Edwards’ refereed Carlisle twice last campaign, both game scame in League Two, both at Brunton Park and both were wins for the Cumbrians, 1:0 v Gillingham in August and their 2:0 win over Grimsby in March.
