Latics are back in action on Monday evening, televised on Sky Sports, the Championship fixture against promotion chasing Sheffield United will be refereed by Northants official, Dean Whitestone.
Dean Whitestone
Whitestone is a vastly experienced ref, he began his career in the EFL back in 2005 and took charge of his first game in the Championship just two years later when he refereed the QPR v Colchester United match on the 22nd December 2007.
The current serving Met Police Officer is a veteran of 586 games, 172 of those coming at Championship level. During his career, Whitestone has issued 1628 yellow cards, 85 reds and awarded 162 penalties.

Dean Whitestone has 6 Latics’ games under his belt, the last of which was our 2:1 defeat away at QPR back in October, he booked Graeme Shinnie and Curtis Tilt in that particular game. Whitestone was also the 4th official in our last game, away at the Den on Saturday, the 1:1 draw with Millwall.
This will be Dean Whitestone’s first Sheffield United game of the current campaign, he last refereed the Blades last season, on the 9th April, a goalless home draw against Bournemouth.
Dean Whitestone has taken charge of 15 games so far this season, 10 of which have come in the Championship.
