Meet The Vertu Trophy Ref - Chesterfield v Latics

Latics travel down to Derbyshire on Tuesday, a visit to our old friends at Chesterfield for an EFL Vertu Trophy cup tie, the referee for the game is scheduled to be Wolverhampton lad, Greg Rollason.

In his early 30s, Greg has been refereeing in the National League for the past two seasons.

Rollason has yet to referee in the EFL but he has been 4th Official on 9 occasions across the Championship (1), League One (6) and League Two (2).

Greg Rollason has just one previous experience of officiating an EFL side, that came about in an FA cup game, which he wasn’t scheduled to take charge of, stepping up from 4th official in the Wimbledon v Dagenham & Redbridge 2nd round tie on 30th November when ref Craig Hicks was injured.

A former Geography teacher now teaching PE & Sport, Rollason is also the director of operations at the Whistle Foundation.
