Progress With Unity Podcast #137: Oldham and Millwall reviews, Walsall preview

You gotta know when to Oldham...

Forget two card draw, how about two draws and a (red) card? Yep, screw exposition: that one sentence is my PWU Podcast description this week, because you don't get much more succinct than that.

Did ya hear me? That's it, so just download the episode and find out what's inside. Hey, it wouldn't be right for me to spoil your Christmas present, would it? ;)

Progress With Unity Podcast #136: Fleetwood review, Oldham preview

No, I said 'Manny Flores', not 'many floors'! Pic courtesy a dude called Matt.

Here's a tip for you collectors: I hear Jordan 'Wannavus' Flores is going to put his season ticket up for sale in the next edition of the All Gone Latics fanzine... apparently it is no longer of use to him due to work commitments.

I tell you what, let's ask his dad, shall we? He is, after all, Progress With Unity's guest of honour in this most amazing of weeks for the Flores family.

Progress With Unity Podcast #135: Port Vale review, Fleetwood preview

I've haddock enough of this... it isn't the time or plaice! (c)Adam Nadel

My editor has told me to bill this game the 'Fish and Chip Showdown' between Fleetwood 'Capital of Chippies' Town and David 'Chip Haute Cuisine' Sharpe. But I refuse to honour his request as it will only make you hungry, and this isn't a food blog like nicecupofteaandasitdown.com. That website, on the other hand, is... and fantastic it is, too.

So, er, scared yet? Well, you should be - Wigan Athletic have the power to be dangerous not only to your health, but the best of the League One teams. If only we could harness that power, it would be enough to tear apart the very fabric of the universe.

Meh, forget that - let's make some Fleetwood Mac jokes instead. Yahay!

This week we are in the studio with a full crew Dan, Rob, Adam, Barry, Paul, Simon, Mick, Gareth and Kathryn.

We start off this episode with a 'straight off the terraces' report by Adam from the Port Vale game, another five goal thriller, but this week it finished on a downer.

Rob, Paul, Simon and Adam give us their thoughts on what went wrong and what was good from Saturday.

Mick's Fleetwood preview is a joy, slightly off beat but very informative, Gareth gives us some of the stats that Mick overlooked.

A new feature this week is Simon's look at the odds for Saturday's game, the Latics are firm favourites with the bookies.

Contents: A big hello from the PWU team (0:00); Port Vale review (1:00) with Adam's From The Terraces report (1:10) including McCann you be more careful? (6:00) The Invincibles Fallacy (11:00), turning Plan B into Plan A (15:50) and Total Meltdown… on hold [with added flying steward stories] (18:00); Mick's rockin' Fleetwood preview (24:30) including the Cod of War (27:00), previous meetings (33:00), Simon's Odds Checker (37:00) and 'comedy' predictions [possibly involving Grant Holt] (38:30); misc. messages (40:30) including a JC Garcia dedication

Progress With Unity Podcast #134: Chesterfield review, FAB report, Port Vale preview

Well, if you say so, Siri.

Wigan Athletic scoring three goals and Grant Holt returning in the space of a week - a total co-incidence? I think not. The Holtmaster's obviously brought along his lucky Fanta... which can be purchased from the concourse prior to kickoff next Saturday.

More importantly, what about those secret documents from the Fans Advisory Board? Don't you want to hear Barry talk about them?

...Well, tough turkeys - all that stuff was edited out due to suspicious background noises.

This week we are in the studio with Dan, Simon, Adam, Barry, Paul and Mick.

We start off with Simon's Chesterfield review 'straight off the terraces', Adam stands in for statman Gareth and there is much debate around our first away win of the season.

We may be just six games into the new campaign, but who is impressing so far? This discussion throws up a surprise candidate.

Port Vale preview from Barry includes connections, Robbie Williams' best mate Andy Porter and Wigan's own 'Dickie' Jack Cunliffe, who played for the Vale in the 1950's and has a family connection to PWU crew member Kathryn.

We have Saturday's prediction corner with five of the six panellists going for a Latics win and the episode is rounded off with a report (of sorts) on last week's FAB meeting at the DW Stadium.

Contents: Welcome to the intros, pop pickers (0:00); From The Terraces: on-the-spot Chesterfield review with Simon (1:10), Substitute Statman Adam (3:49), Mick’s Kitchen Nightmares (13:00); PWU Roundtable: who has impressed so far? (16:20); Emergency Loan Alert (26:00) including Watson Man City’s mind? (28:00); Barry’s comprehensive Port Vale preview (28:10) including Latics Links (32:30) and scary predictions (35:00); a mostly musical FAB report with Barry (36:20); Bazza’s Wigan 10k retirement plans (44:25)

Progress With Unity Podcast #133: Crewe review, transfer deadline day, Chesterfield preview

 A tasty window. (c)Tom Ashton

Look, do you really want to know about transfer deadline day signings? Wouldn't you rather see a blow-by-blow account of Grant Holt's return to Development Squad action against Preston? A quick show of hands would be appreciated.

...

Oh yeah, there's nobody here in my living room to respond... except the dog, who's asleep. Never mind, let's just review the Crewe game instead.
