A clash of two friends following the summer’s antics off the pitch with ownership issues but come 6pm on Tuesday, the gloves will be off. Let’s have a look at the tale of the tape.

Previous

We’ve played Charlton only 13 times, our first encounter was in the Premier League in 2005 when a Darren Bent winner was the difference between the two sides. Overall, we’ve won 5, drawn 3 and lost 5. The last result was a 1-0 defeat at the Valley back in October 2020 with the goal coming from Foster-Caskey. This game was filled with controversy in the last 10 minutes when Lee Evans hit the bar and it looked like the ball crossed the goal line. However, nothing was given.

Ones to Watch

Stockley - As mentioned in the Charlton Podcast preview (link below) Jayden Stockley has been instrumental since coming in on loan from Preston. The striker has played 8 times scoring 4 goals. Not a bad return at all.

Washington - Again another decent striker. The Northern Ireland International has found the net 7 times in 26 appearances for Charlton this season and is one who should be watched. The pair have the ability to cause the Latics backline some issues.

Form - Won 1, Drawn 1, Lost 4

Charlton 0-3 Blackpool

Charlton 1-2 Burton Albion

Fleetwood 1-1 Charlton

Charlton 2-3 Gillingham

Rochdale 0-2 Charlton

Charlton 1-3 Portsmouth

Since the turn of the year, Charlton have only won 3 times, all away from home. Let’s hope that Tuesday isn’t the 4th.

Former Latics - Charlton boast 3 former Latics men in their squad. Alex Gilbey, Jason Pearce and Ben Watson are all part of the team who find themselves in mid table. Here’s hoping that they have a quiet evening on Tuesday.

Missing Personnel

Darren Pratley and Chuks Aneke will both miss the game due to picking up reds in the last game. Pratley was two bookable offences and Aneke received a straight red for an elbow in their 0-3 home defeat to Blackpool.

AOB

Speaking on the PWU Sunday Preview Podcast, Tyler Rowlinson, stated that some of the players don’t seem interested and he isn’t impressed with Lee Bowyer as manager. Let’s hope that continues into Tuesday night, we get our result and then things turn around for them.

Prediction - PWU 2-1. Tyler 1-2
