Latics are back at the DW Stadium on Saturday, Morecambe are the visitors for a game with importance at both ends of the League One table, the referee will be Derbyshire based official, James Oldham.

The young whistle blower is in his third season officiating in the Football League following promotion from the National League in time for the 2019/20 season, he kicked off his career in with the Carlisle v Crawley League 2 opener, issuing a red and 4 yellows.
Oldham has been in charge of two Latics games previously, both came last season, Fleetwood away, which ended 1:1 courtesy of Ollie Crankshaw’s late equaliser and that infamous 0:5 trouncing by Hull City at the DW Stadium.
James Oldham has refereed Morecambe three times previously, a 0:1 home defeat to Walsall in September 2109, a 2:2 draw away at Stevenage in February 2021 - the week before our thumping by Hull - and a 2:4 home defeat to Preston North End in the EFL Cup back in August at the start of this season.
James Oldham’s last game was Saturday, 12 March, the League Two game, Hartlepool United 0:0 Leyton Orient, making three bookings, all Orient players.
