Any Previous? - Latics v Fleetwood

The Latics and Fleetwood may have had a fair few battles down the years in non-league football, but as Football League clubs the two sides have only met on eight occasions.

The first of those eight came at the DW Stadium in September 2015, a crowd of 8,300 witnessed a Latics 2:1 victory with a cracking goal from local lad and former Wigan Athletic season ticket holder, Jordan Flores, Michael Jacobs grabbing the other.

Shout out to Jamie Proctor who, was in the Fleetwood team that day and of course featured for the Latics in our battle against adversity last season.

Highlights - Latics 2:1 Fleetwood Town

We are undefeated in the league against The Cod Army, five wins and two draws in League 1, the only defeat coming in the EFL Cup last season away at Highbury Stadium, the Latics giving up a two goal lead in that particular game to lose 3:2.

Fleetwood Current Form

Fleetwood currently sit 19th in League One with 33pts from 32 games, their recent form is, DDDLD.

Fleetwood’s 16 away games so far this season in the league have brought 13 points from two wins and seven draws and seven defeats, Fleetwood have scored 21 goals on their travels and conceded 31.

They’ve not won any of their last seven League One games, though they have picked up five draws and just the two defeats in that run.

It is worth noting that Fleetwood have done the double over League One leaders Rotherham, in fact their last win was a 1:0 victory against the Millers on the 15th January at the Highbury Stadium, they actually won away at Rotherham 2:4, the only side to score more than once in a league game against Rotherham so far this season.

Player To Watch – Paddy Lane

Paddy Lane

Summer signing Paddy Lane looks to be another quality find by the Fleetwood scouts, the winger only turned 21 on the 18th February but is playing with great maturity in his first season in the EFL.

Costing just £8,000 the former Hyde United youngster is setting the Fylde Coast alight, already five goals to his name and an impressive eight assists so far this season, all coming in League One.

A winger who isn’t afraid to stick his foot in, Fleetwood’s number 32 has picked up 3 yellow cards across his 28 games, despite only committing 18 fouls. He has drawn 32 fouls and completed 44 crosses.
