FA Cup 1st Round proper on Saturday, Solihull Moors visit the DW Stadium for the first ever meeting between the two clubs, not only have we drawn a non-league club at this early stage of the competition, but we’ve also drawn a non-league ref in Dan Middleton.

The Derbyshire official has been refereeing in the National League for the past five seasons, in that time he has also taken charge of four FA Cup ties, though only four came in the first round proper and only two of those involved Football League clubs, both League 2 sides.
Middleton has 84 games under his belt issuing 266 yellows and 22 reds, proving that he isn’t adverse to handing out a card or two, he has also awarded 21 penalties across those 84 games.
Dangerous Dan has taken charge of five Solihull games previously, two of which came back in the 2017/18 and the other three were all last season, one was a five nil home defeat to Stockport and he sent off Moors defender Tyrone Williams after just 17 minutes.
Looks like we could be in for an interesting game from the man with the whistle on Saturday.
